Assessing Connected Persons and Special Guardians.

This course will enable participants to understand how to complete robust assessments of kinship carers and prospective special guardians. This course will also enable practitioners to develop skills in the use of secure base model to inform assessments.

  • Participants will gain confidence in how to complete Special Guardianship Order and Connected Person’s assessments.

  • There will be reflections on local and national practice.

  • Best practice in assessments and support plans will be considered.

  • Key messages from CPR’s and research will be considered.

  • Participants will understand the legal context of both assessments.

  • Techniques to engage families and support information gathering and analysis will be discussed.

  • Use of the secure base model to inform the assessment and support plan.
