Motivational  Interviewing in the context of child protection – Two day course.

This course will enable participants to understand the principles of motivational interviewing and how to apply them in child protection settings.

Learning Objectives Day One:

  • The spirit of Motivational Interviewing

  • The principles of Motivational Interviewing

  • The cycle of change - Prochaska and Diclemente (1983)

  • Techniques used in Motivational Interviewing

Learning Objectives Day Two:

  • Trauma informed practice

  • Building relationships – if you don’t get this right you won’t be effective

  • Sharing information – non negotiable’s

  • Creating conditions for change

  • Working together and building family plans

This is a highly engaging and interactive course which enables participants to practice their use of MI with the guidance of the trainer.
